Mecklenburg County has a local solid waste ordinance which regulates the collection, management and disposal of solid waste in the county including any of its 7 incorporated towns or cities.  Solid waste includes, but is not limited to household garbage, rubbish, trash and other useless materials. 

Elements of this ordinance include the permittance of private solid waste haulers and requirements for any person or entity generating solid waste as to proper management, storage and disposal.  This program readily responds to complaints from citizens within the county on proper or improper solid waste handling in the enforcement of this ordinance.  Callers may record complaints at (704) 336-5101.

Since the City of Charlotte also has requirements for the management of solid waste within its incorporated city limits and applies enforcement of those regulations therein, Charlotte residents with complaints about solid waste are referred to that agency (704-336-7600).

Not only unattractive, but a good breeding area for mosquitoes.
