Communications: Creating Change Through Information
news conference
Health Communications Specialist Gary Black, (center) during a Health Department news conference.

The Mecklenburg County Health Department set as one of its goals to expand its ability to accurately and effectively communicate life-changing and lifesaving public health information, thus arming members of this community with the knowledge necessary to improve their health.

To achieve this, the Health Department, through its Health Communications Team, has established grass-roots connections with community-level organizations, health care professionals and private and non-profit partners to devise the most effective means of delivering research based, audience-specific and culturally sensitive health messages.

Members of the Department's Health Communications Team also bring to the table expertise in health communications, health education, video production, marketing, journalism and media relations.
