Charlotte Firefighters To Deploy
|

The North Carolina Office of Emergency Management (NCOEM) has requested resources from the Charlotte Fire Department in case of flooding throughout the state. Three Charlotte firefighters from Helo-Aquatic Rescue Operations will stage in Salisbury, NC and 14 firefighters for the Swiftwater Rescue Team will stage in Kinston, NC. This Charlotte Fire Department's 14 person Swiftwater Rescue Team was delayed Thursday morning by about ninety minutes for their planned departure to Kinston, N.C. The rescue technicians were called to help with the evacuation of nearly 100 occupants at the Arrowood Mobile Home Park in South Charlotte.

The Swiftwater Rescue Team will arrive in Kingston, NC at the Armory to be deployed by local emergency management officials to flooding incidents. The firefighters assigned to the Helo-Aquatic Rescue Operations will partner with the North Carolina Army National Guard in support of any flooding emergency where helicopters could be called in.
