Charlotte Firefighters Battle Three Overnight Fires

CHARLOTTE, NC -- The first of three working fires was called into Charlotte Fire Communications just after 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 1.  Neighbors were the first to make the 911 call and reported flames coming from a home in the 4400 block of Tipperay Place.  Charlotte Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire conditions blowing out of a front window as they stretched the first hoseline through the front door.

In just under 11 minutes, Firefighters rescued 3 victims from the smoke-filled home and quickly began resuscitation efforts in the front yard.  All victims were taken by Medic to local hospitals where they were pronounced deceased by emergency room physicians.

The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force, which includes police investigators, was on the scene throughout Sunday morning working to determine a cause of this tragic blaze.  Damage estimates by fire officials were put at approximately $50,000.  As Firefighters battled this east side blaze, Firefighters in the Dilworth community and West Mecklenburg County tackled other fires until well after sunrise.
