Mission Statement
It shall be the mission of the SAFE KIDS Charlotte-Mecklenburg Coalition to work together in a long-term, multifaceted community effort to prevent unintentional childhood injury -- the number one killer of children ages 14 and under.
Objectives:
- The Coalition will raise awareness in the community that injuries are the leading health threats facing children today and that they are not random acts, but are preventable.
- The Coalition will build a long-term Coalition to create and implement childhood injury prevention programs in our community.
- The Coalition will work to stimulate change in adult and child behavior, products and the environment to reduce the incidence of childhood injury.
- The Coalition will focus attention on and design injury prevention strategies for children at the highest risk for injuries.
- The Coalition will encourage children to promote safety awareness and injury prevention programs.
- The Coalition will evaluate its programs to determine effectiveness and the need for appropriate changes.
