Juvenile Firesetters Program

children and fire

The Juvenile Firesetters Program, "Firebusters", was organized in 1989. The objective of this program is to provide fire prevention education and counseling to the juvenile fire setter and his family through intervention by a trained member of the Juvenile Firesetter Committee. This committee consists of fire educators, arson investigators, police, private psychologists, Social Service representatives, Mental Health representatives, Juvenile Court counselors, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg School counselors. each case is evaluated for the proper intervention or education that is needed to help the child and his/her family deal with this crisis situation. The Juvenile Firesetters "Firebusters" Program has been very successful in helping families deal with children that play with fire.
