Home fire sprinklers save lives!
In 2005 there were 396,000 residential fires and 3,055 civilian fire deaths with $6, 9 billion in property damage.
Studies by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's United States Fire Administration indicate that the installation of residential fire sprinkler systems could save thousands of lives; prevent a large portion of those injuries; and eliminate hundreds of millions of dollars in property losses.
Families with children, senior citizens, and handicapped members have special fire protection needs. Home fire sprinklers provide added protection for these people.
Residential sprinklers, listed by Underwriters Labs are designed to respond to a fire quickly. Each head is individually activated by fire. Sprinkler heads are individually activated by fire. Residential fires are usually controlled with one sprinkler head, and 90 percent of all fires are controlled with six or fewer heads.
