The Firefighters' Burned Children Fund, the Charlotte Fire Department and Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal's Office announce the

2008 Fire Prevention Week Bulletin Board Contest

Theme:  "PREVENT HOME FIRES"

 

The top three winning schools will receive cash awards

                                    1st place                   $1,000.00 + Awards Ceremony

                                    2nd place                  $500.00

                                    3rd place                   $250.00

  

Official Rules:

· Any school in Mecklenburg County with a minimum of twenty (20) 3rd grade students

· All work must be completed by 3rd graders.

· Each bulletin board must include the theme "Prevent Home Fires" and use fire safety messages pertaining to the theme– Posters will not be accepted

· The bulletin board must be ready to be judged by 2:00 pm on Friday, October 3, 2008 and stay on display during the month of October

· Each school should select one entry to be judged by our fire safety team

· If your school plans to participate, one school representative must contact Jo Provost by e-mail at jprovost@ci.charlotte.nc.us or by telephone at 704-336-8377 no later than Wednesday, October 1, 2008 providing the following information:

School NAME, ADDRESS, CONTACT PERSON, CONTACT PHONE NUMER and/or E-MAIL

· Bulletin boards will be judged on October 6, 7 or  8,  2008, by Fire Department representatives.  Winners will be judged by: best theme portrayal, creativity, and uniqueness.

· Winning schools will be notified Wednesday, October 8.

· A Fire Safety Awards Ceremony will be held on Friday, October 10, 2008 at the winning school, at 10 AM.  Be prepared to host this ceremony in the event your school wins.
