The new facility, The Fire and Police Training Academy, opened in July 2002 in which the Charlotte Fire Department Training Division occupies 40% of the 108, 163 square foot building.

Directions to the Charlotte Fire Department Training Academy:

From the south, traveling on I-85. Take I-85 North to Exit 33, Billy Graham Parkway. Turn right off of ramp and proceed to West Blvd. Make a right on West Blvd. and proceed to the traffic light, and make a left onto Yorkmont Rd. Travel Yorkmont to the next traffic light and turn right onto Beam Rd. Travel Beam Rd. approx. 2 miles and the training facility will be on your left hand side. 

From the North, traveling I-85. Take I-85 South to Exit 33, Billy Graham Parkway. Turn left off of the ramp and proceed to West Blvd. Make a right on West Blvd. and proceed to the traffic light, and make a left onto Yorkmont Rd. From the South, traveling I-77. Take I-77 North to Exit 5, Tyvola Rd. Turn left onto Tyvola Rd. and travel to the 2^nd traffic light, turn left onto S.Tryon St. Turn right at the Shopton Rd. traffic light, there will be a sign for the Fire and Police Training Academy on the corner, and the facility will be on your right. 

From the North, traveling I-77. Take I-77 South to Exit 5, Tyvola Rd. Turn Right onto Tyvola Rd. and travel to the 2^nd traffic light, turn left onto S.Tryon St. Turn right at the Shopton Rd. traffic light, there will be a sign for the Fire and Police Training Academy on the corner, and the facility will be on your right. Or you can take I-77 to I-85 and follow instructions above.
