Deputy Fire Chief Rich Granger joined the Charlotte Fire Department in 1988.  He was promoted to Captain in 1995 and in 2001 to Battalion Chief.  He served as the Chief of Logistics from 2001 - 2008 and was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief in 2008.  Rich has an Associate's Degree from CPCC in Fire Science Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from UNCC.

Rich is also a graduate of the City of Charlotte's Dimensions in Leadership program and has a Chief Fire Officer Designation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. 

He has served on the City of Charlotte's Ethics Committee, Strategic Alignment Committee and served his community as the coordinator for the United Way to the City as well as the Charlotte Fire Department. 

Rich has 22 years of experience in the fire service, including 17 years as a volunteer firefighter in Mecklenburg County.
