Airport Security
Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the Carolinas' premiere air transportation facility. Our airport covers 5,000 acres and supports commercial, cargo, corporate, military, private aircraft as well as trucking and shipping operations.
More than  23 million passengers fly into and out of Charlotte Douglas International Airport annually. As the fifth largest airline hub in the nation, we to proud to also be ranked as one of the nation's top airports by customer satisfaction surveys.

Our Airport Law Enforcement Officers are responsible for ensuring a safe environment for millions of people by patrolling the terminal, parking areas and other properties.

They serve as first responders for all situations on the airport premises including medical emergencies, traffic accidents, security checkpoint violations and aircraft incidents. Several officers participate in a bike patrol unit and there are three FAA-certified K-9 Explosives Detection Teams.

Officers interact regularly with the FAA, FBI, US Customs, US Department of Agriculture, US Immigration and Naturalization, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Department and other local, state and federal government agencies that operate within the airport's jurisdiction.
