Neighborhood Watch Program

Neighborhood Watch is the basis for bringing neighborhood residents together to focus on disaster preparedness, terrorism awareness, evacuation drills and to organize group training.

Through a partnership with local law enforcement agencies, citizens learn to recognize and report suspicious and unusual activities in their neighborhoods.  Regular Neighborhood Watch meetings help residents build a communication network that works to protect their neighborhood.  They discuss neighborhood concerns with Police representatives and receive crime prevention information such as:

  • Recognizing gang signs and symbols
  • Identifying drug abuse
  • Managing personal safety
  • Spotting fraud
  • Reporting suspicious activity
  • Many others

The more active a Neighborhood Watch group is, the more effective it is in deterring crime from a neighborhood.  Criminals don't like to be seen and prefer easier targets.
