Just after 4 pm Wednesday afternoon Charlotte Firefighters began receiving numerous calls for service in regards to flash flooding.  Over the next three hours Charlotte FF's & CMPD responded to approximately 40 weather related incidents.  Of those 40 incidents, 22 calls for service were for flood emergencies which involved numerous evacuations and rescues using swift water rescue gear and boats.  There were NO injuries to citizens or firefighters to report.  Fire Department officials would like to remind citizens to avoid crossing standing water in roadways.  "Steer Clear, Turn Around, Don't Drown".
