Since the '80s, local, state and federal agencies here in Charlotte- Mecklenburg have worked to implement effective strategies for deterring, preventing and responding to emergency and disaster scenarios of all types.

Lessons learned from violent activity not only improved our response plans, but also strengthened our resolve to develop and maintain systems that prevent acts of violence and enable us to respond in the most effective manner possible. We're developing and incorporating solutions that apply not only to the violence and emergency conditions, but to day to day operations so that citizens better understand how to respond and adapt to unforeseen emergencies.
Whether it's a terrorist attack involving weapons of mass destruction or weather-related conditions like hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, people in Charlotte-Mecklenburg are coming together to present a United Response.
These web pages is part of our effort to provide information to help you understand emergency preparedness and how you can help.
