Finding quality, qualified workers is a goal for all businesses in Charlotte.  The Economic Development Office has oversight over the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Workforce Development Board (WDB) which operates local workforce development programs as well as works on workforce issues as identified by the community. 

In addition the Economic Development Office participated in two youth employment programs:
-  The Mayor's Youth Employment Program  matches businesses and youth who are looking for career-based summer employment; and
- The Youth Job Connection, a partnership between the City, Goodwill and the Workforce Development Board to provide training and part-time summer jobs for kids
