MAYOR'S YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
|
Shaping Charlotte's Future Workforce One Youth at a Time
The Mayor's Youth Employment Program (MYEP) was created to provide meaningful employment opportunities for Charlotte-area youth to gain a greater understanding of career demands, skill sets and qualifications for employment in business, industry and local government.
How it works:
Students, ages 16-18 associated with local non-profit organizations including Communities in Schools, HELP and Right Moves for Youth are placed with host employers from the public and private sectors for a period of eight weeks.
Prior to job placement, the youth complete a pre-employment training course as well as life skills development throughout the academic year.
Job cycles last approximately eight weeks, with MYEP youth working a minimum of 20 hours a week for approximately $8.00 per hour.
