Your firm may be eligible for SBE Certification. The City of Charlotte verifies that a company is owned, controlled and managed by U.S. citizens or permanent residents who meet all SBE certification criteria. Learn how to become certified.
Basic criteria for SBE certification include:
- Business location within the Charlotte Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which consists of Mecklenburg, Gaston, Cabarrus, Union, and Anson counties in NC; and York, SC
- Minimum of three months in business;
- Owner's Personal net worth limitation; and
- Eligible owners must own at least 51% of the interest in the business.
In addition, the company must provide a product or service that the City utilizes.
