On July 28, 2006, the Effective and Efficient Government Focus Area Leadership Team approved Mecklenburg County's Diversity Management Plan. The Diversity Council, comprised of a cross-section of Mecklenburg County employees, labored for many months to develop this plan, under the direction of Diversity Manager Phin Xaypangna, General Manager John McGillicuddy and Brenda Anderson, an external consultant.
The plan is intended to improve the County's performance in achieving the Board of County Commissioner's (BOCC) objective of becoming "a model diverse organization" by 2015.
Essentially, the Diversity Management Plan focuses on strategies, tactics and measures for effectively managing a diverse workforce to serve a diverse community.
