Adult Care Homes

Answers

  1. Can you recommend a facility for my mother? How do I know if this facility is a good one?

The public can call Centralized Intake at 704-336-3150 and set up a time to come in and view records for Mecklenburg County Adult Care Homes.  You may also ask the administrator for copies of any Corrective Action Reports within the last year.  For information on nursing homes, you can research their survey reports on www.medicare.gov.  You can also call the Division of Facility Services at 1-828-232-5084.

  2. I want to open an adult care home. How do I go about this?

A Certificate of Need (CON) is required to open an adult care home licensed for 7 or more adults. You may pursue a license for a family care home, which is licensed for 2 to 6 adults.  Family Care Home Information sessions are held to educate the public on this licensure process.  You may call 704-336-6654 if you are interested in attending one of the training sessions.
