Peggy K. McCoy Director, Economic Services Division
Peggy McCoy began her Social Services career in 1976 working for the Alamance County Department of Social Services in the Aid to Families with Dependent Children Program (AFDC). In September of 1976 she accepted a position with the Union County Department of Social Services. During her five years with Union County, she worked as an Eligibility Specialist in Food Stamps, served as the first fraud investigator for Union County, wrote and implemented countywide policy, and lastly, served in the capacity of Food Stamp Supervisor. In February 1986, after four years in the private sector, Peggy accepted a position as Caseworker with the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services. Since that time, she has served as a Casework Supervisor in the Food Stamp Program, Casework Director of the Food Stamp Program and as an Assistant Director in the Economic Services Division.
Over the years, Peggy has served on many committees at both the state and federal level. They include: EBT Task Team, EBT Steering Committee, Federal Error Reduction Task Team and the State Work Improvement Committee.
Peggy has conducted workshops at State and National conferences on topics such as empowerment, error reduction and management. She is currently an active member of the National Eligibility Workers Association where she is a local board member.
