DSS Vision:  To Be The Best!

The Department of Social Services contracts with Child Care Resources, Inc. to coordinate child care services.  This includes determination of eligibility for services and placement.  Funding, with the exception of Smart Start, was consolidated effective October 1, 1996 through the federal Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCBG). 

The majority of the CCBG funds are to be used to support foster parents, employment for welfare customers, customers transitioning off welfare and other low-income families at-risk of going on welfare.
