Michelle Lancaster-Sandlin serves as General Manager for Community Health and Safety, providing leadership and oversight to the Focus Area Leadership Team which includes the following services:
Area Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Disabilities
Mecklenburg County Health Department
MEDIC (Emergency Medical Services)
Office of the Medical Examiner
Department of Social Services
Community Support Services Department
Sheriff's Office

Lancaster-Sandlin joined Mecklenburg County as Staff Assistant to the Board of Commissioners in 1998 and was named Assistant to the County Manager in December 2000. In 2003, she was named Executive Assistant to the County Manager and was promoted to Associate General Manager in 2006. She was named General Manager in 2008 and assumed responsibility for the Community Health and Safety Focus Area in 2009. She also leads the County's criminal justice accountability function.
Lancaster-Sandlin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
