Jackson came to Mecklenburg County in February 2005, after having begun her local government career here as a graduate intern in the summer of 1988. Immediately prior to Mecklenburg County, she served Albany, GA for 12 years, as Assistant City Manager and City Manager. She also worked in Prince George's County, MD (1989-1993) as a participant in its inaugural Management Internship program, as Assistant to the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Human Services, and as Program Manager for the Infants and Toddlers Program.
A native of Augusta, GA, she is active in the Charlotte community through participation with the United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc., and Leadership Charlotte Class XXVIII.
She is a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Jackson earned a Bachelor's Degree from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, and a Master's Degree from Duke University's Institute of Policy Sciences and Public Affairs (now re-named the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy).
