NCACC Legislative Goals - Submit Recommendations by August 15
The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) will soon begin developing its 2009-2011 legislative goals. The legislative goals development process begins with counties across the state submitting recommendations. These recommendations are then reviewed by the various NCACC steering committees, the Legislative Goals Committee, and ultimately the Board of Directors. If you have a statewide issue that you would like to recommend to NCACC, please send that item to Deborah Goldberg by August 15. Deborah can be contacted by
email or at 704-336-2611. Review the
NCACC’s 2007-2009 goals.
Personnel Update
Over the past few weeks, the County Manager’s Office has experienced several personnel moves. Jessica Ireland joined our Court System Planning Unit as a Management Analyst. Prior to joining our office, Jessica worked in the Sheriff’s Office. Tangela White has been promoted into the Administrative Support Coordinator for the Unit and will begin her new position effective at the end of August. The Unit is temporarily located on the 4th floor of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.
Janet Payne, formerly our ICMA Fellow, has been promoted to Assistant to the County Manager. Currently, she is involved in the management of the Justice and Public Safety Task Force as well as jail construction projects with real estate services.
The Office of Strategic Organizational Improvement (SOI) will be losing a great asset as Erica Nesbitt begins her new role as Fiscal Administrator with the County’s Information Services & Technology (IST) Department effective August 13. Erica has been with the County for 7 years - 4 in SOI and prior to that with Court Services and the Sheriff’s Office.
Our office is privileged to have such a talented staff. These moves demonstrate that by creating a collaborative and creative work environment, we foster skills and empower employees to achieve greater responsibilities within our organization rather than seek employment elsewhere. I wish them all much success in their new roles.
- Harry L. Jones, Sr., County Manager
