April 9: Charlotte Region Fast Lanes Study Key Stakeholder Workshop

The third Charlotte Region Fast Lanes Study Workshop will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Metrolina Regional Transportation Management Center (TMC), 2327 Tipton Drive (off I-85 at Exit 39--Statesville Avenue). The purpose of the workshop will be to review recommendations from the feasibility analysis about including High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV), High Occupancy Toll (HOT) or other types of special use lanes on several of the region's freeways and arterial roads. The study was formerly known as the Charlotte Region HOV/HOT/Managed Lanes Study.

Council members and interested City staff are invited to attend the workshop. Other persons invited include other elected officials serving on Charlotte-region MPO boards, media, and local and state staff from throughout the Charlotte region.

The consultant's final report is due in late spring. All information pertinent to the study may be accessed on the Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization (MUMPO) website at www.mumpo.org  under "Fast Lanes".
