CMPD Response Area Newsletters

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has a new communications tool designed to strengthen the ties between the response area teams and the citizens and businesses they serve. As of this month, each of the 39 Response Area Commanders has his or her own newsletter which will be published monthly.

Titled On the Beat, each issue will feature monthly crime statistics for the response area, emerging crime trends, crime updates e.g. recent arrests, suspect descriptions etc., crime prevention tips and community meetings and news. There will be commentary about what's working to reduce crime and what's not; why crime is up or down; and how the community can work with us. Our expectation is that each response area commander will build on that framework and make the newsletter their own.

Distribution, for the most part, is electronic, and all will be posted on the response area webpage at www.cmpd.org. The first issue was sent to subscribers of Gov Delivery and email contacts in the response area. Anyone can subscribe by calling or emailing their division office or Response Area Commander. Many community organizations are sending them to their distribution lists. The newsletter is a PDF file, a format that is both secure and compatible with most personal computers.
