As our new Congressional Delegation prepares to take office, we are providing the Delegation information summarizing our previous legislative requests and thanking them for their efforts on our behalf.

The City is briefing our Federal Delegation about pending federal funding requests, preparing next year's federal agenda, and identifying local projects as "ready to bid" which might be eligible for proposed federal economic stimulus initiatives. Attached is the following information requested by the Government Affairs Committee to be used by Council when communicating with our Congressional Delegation:

  • Letter from Mayor McCrory thanking our Delegation for their work on our behalf and summarizing the status of current legislative requests.
  • Update from Holland & Knight regarding the FY09 – 10 Appropriations process and proposed economic stimulus proposals.
  • US Conference of Mayors listing of Charlotte's preliminary inventory of projects meeting proposed Economic Stimulus guidelines.
  • Programs that were submitted for FY09 earmarks which will be requested again because they were not fully funded or revised to better meet funding criteria:
    • Eastland Mall Redevelopment Project
    • Streetcar Conceptual Alignment and Phasing Alternatives Study
    • Gang of One Pilot Program
    • Briar Creek Relief Sewer
    • Northeast Corridor Funding
    • ALERT Mass Casualty Response Equipment

The Government Affairs Committee will be reviewing our proposed FY10 federal agenda at their January 5 meeting.
