Major construction is beginning on the Briar Creek Relief Sewer Project. Crews are digging entry pits to tunnel under Myers Park High School and Providence Road and are excavating through Myers Park Country Club. Construction activities will also be behind Scotland Avenue.
The construction route of Phase I will roughly run from the Sugar Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on Tyvola Road to Randolph Road. Oscar Renda Contracting, Inc. was selected to install pipe along Phase IA, which will run from the wastewater treatment plant to Sharon Road. Phase IB will run from Sharon Road to Randolph Road and will be completed by Rockdale Pipeline,
Inc.

At the September 24 Dinner Briefing, staff presented the proposed Beatties Ford Road Metro Police Station to Mayor and Council. The presentation included information regarding the service area, number of officers, and activities that will take place in the building. At the meeting, Council inquired about the feasibility of Green Options for the facility, including the budgetary impact.
I am referring the discussion of Green Options for the Metro Station to the Community Safety Committee. At the November 19 meeting, staff will present the Committee with a menu of items for consideration. Staff will highlight the benefit of each item as well as the impact on the budget and schedule for completing the building.
As we previously reported, on October 12, Superior Court Judge Lindsay Davis, Jr. granted the government defendants' motion for judgment on the pleadings and dismissed Mr. Reese's two lawsuits (i.e., one against the City and County, and the other against CMS and the County). Mr. Reese has now filed notices of appeal and the cases will move to the North Carolina Court of Appeals. We will continue to update you as this matter progresses.
