Solid Waste Services is seeing an increase in the amount of yard waste at the curb as a result of last week's windstorm. Routes are currently finishing on the same day of collection, and staff expects this trend to continue. No other services have been affected by this recent storm, and we will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any changes.
Arena Out-Parcel 3 is a one-third acre site on the corner of E. Trade and Caldwell Streets. In June 2006, City Council selected the team of Boulevard Centro, Lodgeworks and Batson-Cook to develop this site. The proposal was for a combination high-rise condominium/hotel project, with street level retail. The purchase price was $2.4 million.
In December 2006, the City Council concurred with a request from the project team to reduce the sale price of the property to $2.1 million, the appraised value and the minimum originally set by Council. The price reduction was requested because of a significant increase in steel and concrete prices since the submittal of the project.
The project team has approached staff about a change in the project. The project is now proposed to be a hotel-only project, with no condominiums. Staff is working with the project team on the new proposal and will be coming back to City Council in May for Council consideration of the change. The purchase price remains at $2.1 million.
