Mayor and Council members are invited to join CMPD in honoring the Police Reserves on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium at the Police Training Academy.
Forty-two Police Reserve Officers will each receive the President's Volunteer Service Award. This award is issued on behalf of President Bush by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation to recognize outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over a 12 month period. The Police Reserves are being recognized for over 14,000 hours of service to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and this community last year.
In addition to the presentation of the Volunteer Service Awards, the Reserves will promote Ted Cormier to Reserve Commander and Bill Strain to Reserve Sergeant. They will also recognize Reserve Officer Hubert Adams, who is retiring after 45 years of service to the community, and Reserve Officer Shelia Matthews who is retiring after 15 years of service.
Please join CMPD in recognizing these dedicated volunteer officers.
