Attached is the amended budget adoption item and ordinance from the June 14 budget meeting. The Council approved a motion to amend and adopt the attached budget ordinance. That motion was vetoed by the Mayor and will be revoted at the June 19 Zoning meeting. The item has been added to the end of the zoning meeting as number 37.

Mecklenburg Mills Update #6: Moving Complete and Mills Closed

As of Wednesday, June 14, 2006 the last apartment unit in Mecklenburg Mill was packed and moved. The building is closed and will be boarded up. The belongings of the 59 households have been either moved to their new homes or to storage. During the move residents were able to come out to the site and take belongings they wanted to keep with them and to provide special handling instructions to the movers.
Permanent Placement Status To date 42 households have found permanent housing of which 27 have actually moved into their new home. Twelve households are still looking for permanent housing and five households have applications pending with private property owners and the Charlotte Housing Authority.
Community Link is assisting Neighborhood Development to expedite finding permanent housing for the remaining 12 households.
Visit by Pittsburgh/Allegheny County Officials

A delegation of 15 representatives from Pittsburgh/Allegheny County will be visiting Charlotte on June 19-20. The purpose of the visit is to see how the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County have eliminated redundancies through 25 years of consolidating services. Of particular interest is our experience of consolidating our Park and Recreation Departments and our Police Departments, as well as other smaller functional consolidations. They will also review the City's and County's balanced score card performance management systems.
