Do your part in keeping our waterways clean. Participate in the N.C. Big Sweep, an annual statewide event that calls volunteers to action to remove trash and debris from creeks, lakes and rivers. For more than a decade, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services has organized this effort in Mecklenburg County. Big Sweep is an ideal opportunity for citizens, church groups, trade organizations and school clubs to get involved and take a stand against water pollution. Volunteers will be provided trash bags, gloves, snacks, water and instructions from a site coordinator. They are asked to collect what litter they can from stream channels, lake shorelines and report any questionable or oversized litter.
Big Sweep will be held Saturday, October 6th from 9 am -1 pm.

Utilities Urges Homeowners to Delay Landscape Projects
|
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities urges customers to postpone discretionary fall landscaping. Please delay elective lawn projects such as aerating, seeding, fertilizing and installing turf and ornamental plantings. We wish to save homeowners from making an investment that rainfall may not be able to support.
Although last week's rain was helpful, it by no means indicates an end to our drought. Lake levels continue to decline, and it is likely that Utilities will move to even more water restrictions.
Charlotte customers have reduced water consumption by more than 16 percent since mandatory restrictions took effect. Thank you for your conservation efforts, and please visit www.cmutilities.com for the latest updates.
