CharMeck 311 Celebrates First Anniversary

CharMeck 311, the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County's 24-hour customer service line recently celebrated its first anniversary, having received 1,289,090 calls as of June 30, and answering all calls in an average of 26 seconds.

The majority of calls to 311 during its inaugural year were related to Utilities, Taxes, Animal Control and Solid Waste Services.  The call center triaged 115,678 calls for CMPD's Crime Reporting Unit and also received 34,811 calls on its Spanish-speaking line.

CharMeck 311 can be accessed via cell phone or land-line.  Callers outside Mecklenburg County can access 311 by dialing 704-336-7600.  For more information on 311 services, or to submit an online service request, visit www.charmeck.org.

 

Airport Welcomes JetBlue

Looking for cheap airfare to New York?  JetBlue Airways began service in Charlotte on July 12. 

The low-cost carrier offers four daily non-stop flights between JFK airport in New York, and Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

 

Community Shred Event

Council member Michael Barnes invites citizens of District 4 to a Community Shred event to have their sensitive and confidential information destroyed and disposed of properly:

The event will help educate the community on the dangers of identity theft and members of law enforcement will be on hand to provide tips to help reduce the chances of citizens experiencing identity theft.

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) will hold a public meeting to discuss updated information on the Center City Streetcar project:

New Look For CharMeck.org

If you visit the City's web site, you'll notice that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg home page has undergone some changes.

The site, which the City shares with Mecklenburg County, has been transformed, making it more visually appealing, and easier to use.

Among the new features are an online service request form for 311, the ability to sign up for the City-County email subscription service - Notify Me, and streaming media, which enables users to view and listen to on-line programming.  Users also can pay a virtual visit to all City and County departments.  Just log on to www.charmeck.org.
