Help Steer The City's Transportation Future

If you want to help steer Charlotte's transportation future ... now is the time to get involved.

The Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) is recommending $3.5 billion be spent to address transportation issues the City will face over the next 25 years.  A draft of Charlotte's first, comprehensive transportation plan, known as the Transportation Action Plan (TAP), was presented to City Council last month. Charlotte's next step is to engage the public in the process.

Residents can participate by taking a transportation funding and priorities survey or by attending public workshops. The survey will be available on-line through March 31.

For more information, including workshop schedules, click here.

CATS Joins 511 Network

Commuters in Charlotte-Mecklenburg now have a new source for accessing transit information any time of the day.  The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) has joined the North Carolina 511 Travel Information Network.

511 is part of a nationwide effort to give commuters travel information via telephone.  The voice-activated system provides travel details on public transportation, highway conditions and weather as well as rail, tourism and ferry services.

To access CATS information through the network, call 511 or 1-877-511-4662.  Press "2" for public transportation, then press "1" for CATS information.  For more information about 511, visit www.ncsmartlink.org

Are You Strong Enough?
