Update on Yard Waste Collection

We know you just want them gone ... so do we.

It usually takes 4-6 weeks for trees in this area to lose their leaves.  This year is different.  High winds and rapid temperature changes caused more leaves to fall in half the normal time. As a result, the amount of yard waste at the curb has been heavy and yard waste collection is delayed in some parts of the city.

To ensure that they can get back on schedule as soon as possible, Solid Waste Services is:

  • Extending collection services to seven-day work weeks
  • Hiring private contractors to assist in collection

Residents are asked to remember the following yard waste collection procedures when preparing materials for collection:

  • Separate limbs into piles small enough for one individual to handle.  Piles should be no more than 75 lbs and no more than 4 ft. high or 5 ft. long
  • Put leaves in untied plastic bags or uncovered trashcans
  • Leave your yard waste at the curb until it's collected

Solid Waste Services understands it's frustrating to wait for collections and is committed to providing residents with the service they expect and deserve.  For more yard waste preparation information or collection status updates, visit http://curbit.charmeck.org or call 311.
