Turn Sprinkler Head, Prevent An Accident
|
If you have a sprinkler system, the Charlotte Department of Transportation reminds you to turn it off or redirect the spray this winter. Though residents should never allow their sprinklers to "overspray," during freezing temperatures it can lead to unnecessary accidents if the overspray freezes on sidewalks and streets.
Property owners can be held liable if an accident occurs because of these situations. Don't let this happen to you this winter. Help keep your neighborhoods safe.

Reduce Waste This Holiday Season
|
The holiday season means an increase in trash; the more you shop, the more you throw away. Solid Waste Services offers the following tips to help keep the holiday season green:
- Consider gifts that keep on giving such as a battery charger, a perpetual calendar, an erasable message or gift certificates
- Give two gifts in one by using baskets, fabric bags or scarves to wrap gifts.
- Save gift boxes, bows and gift wrap to use next year.
- Decorate your home with holly, cedar, berries, fruits and nuts, all of which can be composted after use.
- Have children make their own wrapping paper by designing and coloring on paper grocery bags
