City of Charlotte Land Development Services (a.k.a. City Engineering) reviews commercial building permit site plans for infrastructure improvements such as sidewalk, curb and gutter, associated storm drainage, zoning, and coordinates required improvements inspection prior to releasing the Certificate of Occupancy.
Contact the Express Review Coordinator at Mecklenburg County Building Standards for new construction that requires review/approval from other agencies (Planning, UMUD, MUDD, Transportation, Environmental Health, City Engineering, etc.) The submittal of plans and the review at the county can begin without the other agencies listed above approving the plans, but, approval from these agencies will need to be obtained prior to building permit issuance.
