A South Corridor Infrastructure Project

This project is part of the South Corridor Infrastructure Improvements that support the integration of transportation and land use along the South Corridor.  This project will add bike lanes, storm drains, sidewalk and landscaping on Old Pineville Road from Victory Christian Church to Lake Mist Drive.

This project will also extend Old Pineville Road from Victory Christian Church south to connect directly to Arrowood Road at England Street.

Objective:

  • To improve pedestrian and bicycle access, safety and comfort levels
  • To promote transit-oriented development in the Archdale and Arrowood Station Areas

This South Corridor Infrastructure Project will add bike lanes, storm drains, curb & gutter, sidewalk, lighting and landscaping from Victory Christian Church to Lake Mist Drive.

What's happened?
City staff worked with Gannett Fleming, Inc. to plan and design the improvements.  Planning, design, real estate acquisition and the bid phases are complete.

What's next? The construction contract was awarded to United Construction on January 14, 2008.  Construction began in February.

Cost:  $7,000,000
Please note that the project cost will include all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
