Multi-Use Connector

A South Corridor Infrastructure Project (SCIP)

The Multi-Use Connector is a pedestrian/bicycle trail built adjacent to the CATS South Corridor Light Rail Transit line from Tremont Avenue to Clanton Road.

Objectives:

  • To provide pedestrian and bicycle access to the Scaleybark, New Bern, and Tremont Light Rail Stations

Cost:  $2.3 Million
Please note that the project cost includes all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.  
 
Planning & Design Phase (Complete)
City staff worked with the Gannett Fleming Consultant Team to prepare a conceptual design for the Multi-Use Connector project.   
 
Real Estate Phase (Complete)
The connector was built within the right-of-way acquired by the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). 
 
Construction Phase
The connector is currently being built by the light rail contractor and will be complete by September 2007.
