Arequipa Drive

A 2002 Transportation Bond Project

This transportation project is the last link in a road network that parallels Independence Boulevard from Margaret Wallace Road to Matthews Township Parkway (NC 51).  When completed, neighborhoods and businesses will have access to each other without adding to vehicular traffic on Independence Boulevard.  The project limits have been shortened from Margaret Wallace Road to the Cross Creek Apartment complex.

Objectives:

  • Increase connectivity between neighborhoods and businesses
  • Provide alternate route along the Independence Boulevard Corridor
  • Construct bridge across Irvins Creek
  • Accommodate possible Southeast Transit Corridor facilities
