Plaza / Shamrock Neighborhood Improvement Project

A 2008 Neighborhood Improvement Bond Project.
In November 2006, voters approved $25,000,000 for neighborhood improvement projects including $500,000 for planning and design. An additional $2.0M will be added in 2012 for right-of-way acquisition and construction for the Plaza Shamrock neighborhood.
This project will provide infrastructure improvements that may include:
- Roadway and pedestrian improvements such as curb and gutter, pedestrian refuge islands, bulb outs, improvements to signalized crossings, construction of planted medians, new marked pedestrian crosswalks, pedestrian signals and roadway accomodations for bicycles.
- New curb alignment to accomodate vehicles, transit, bicycles, and pedestrians.
- Coordination with storm drainage improvement projects and water and sewer line replacement projects.
Objectives:
- Maintain, stabilize and revitalize the neighborhood through comprehensive infrastructure improvements
- Strengthen the neighborhood and surrounding community

Plaza Shamrock
This project will make infrastructure improvements such as curb and gutter, sidewalk, and storm drainage. The project is bounded by Matheson Avenue, The Plaza, Eastway Drive, Shamrock Drive, and East Ford Road.
What's happened? The first Public Meeting was held on November 6th at Midwood Baptist Church. Public meeting comments have been compiled and are ready to be presented at a second Public Meeting.
What's next? A second Public Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at United House of Prayer, 1221 E. Sugar Creek Road. The project team will present construction alternatives based on comments received from the first Public Meeting. We have also addressed those comments where immediate attention can be made.

Cost: $500,000 Please note that this is the NIP funding amount. Additional funding may be identified after the planning phase. Project costs typically include all costs associated with the project such as planning and design, acquiring the right of way, utility relocation, consultant fees, construction, signalization, permits and landscaping.
