Howie Acres Neighborhood Improvement Project

A 2000 Neighborhood Bond Project

This project will construct infrastructure improvements in the Howie Acres neighborhood such as storm drainage, sidewalks, curb and gutter. The project will be built in two phases. Phase 1 includes Tremeth, Bearwood and Redwood streets. Phase 2 will include a portion of Howie Circle, Dinglewood Avenue and Atmore Street.

Objectives:

  • Maintain, stabilize and revitalize the neighborhood through comprehensive infrastructure improvements
  • Strengthen the neighborhood and surrounding community
  • Improve infrastructure features in the neighborhood such as storm drainage, curb & gutter, and sidewalk features.
 
 


Howie Acres
This 2000 Neighborhood  Bond Project will provide storm drainage, sidewalk and curb and gutter in the Howie Acres neighborhood. Phase 1 includes work on Redwood and Bearwood Avenue and Trembeth Drive.

What's happened?
City staff has completed the planning, design, real estate and bid phases for this project. The project is currently in the Construction Phase.

What's next? The project started construction on February 4, 2008. The construction schedule includes 180 days to complete all the work for Phase 1. Click here to view the January postcard.

Cost:  $1,455,000
The Engineering & Property Management (E&PM) project team will manage the Howie Acres Neighborhood Project through a four stage process with input from Neighborhood Development, Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Commission, Charlotte Department of Transportation and other City departments as needed.  Click here to learn how City projects are selected, designed and built.
