At Large Council Member

Anthony Foxx, a Democrat, is an At-Large Representative on Charlotte City Council.He was first elected in 2005 and is now serving his second term on Council. He Chairs Council's Transportation Committee and is a member of the Economic Development & Planning, and Retreat Planning committees. He is Council Representative to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Development Corporation and the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MUMPO).

Foxx received his law degree from New York University School of Law, where he was awarded a Root-Tilden-Snow Public Interest Law Scholarship and his bachelor's degree in History from Davidson College. He is a graduate of the Mecklenburg County Bar Leadership Institute.

Foxx has served on the boards of the Mecklenburg County Education Budget Committee, Mecklenburg County Bar Foundation, Community School of the Arts, YMCA Camp Thunderbird, Trust for Public Land (Carolinas Region), and Focus on Future Leaders. Foxx has also previous chaired the Environment Committee and served as a member for the Budget, Housing and Neighborhood Development and Public Safety committees.
 
Foxx has been recognized as one of the Charlotte business Journal's "40 Under 40" and as a recipient of the North Carolina Bar Association's Citizen Lawyer Award.
 
Prior to joining Hunton & Williams law firm, he served as a law clerk on the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, a trial attorney for the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, and a staff counsel to the United States House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary. he and his wife, Samara, have two children.
