John Lassiter, a Republican, is an At-Large Representative on Charlotte City Council. He was first elected in 2003 an is now serving his third term on Council. He chairs Council's Economic Development/ Planning Committee and is a member of the Housing & Neighborhood Development, Governmental Affairs and Planning Liaison committees. He is Council Representative to Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP), and the Performing Arts Center.
Lassiter served on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education from 1992 - 2003 and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Commission from 1987 - 1992. He is president-elect of the Mecklenburg County Bar and past president of the Children's Law Center.

He received his master's degree in Public Administration from North Carolina State University and his bachelor's and law degrees from Wake Forest University.
Lassiter is a member of the Board of Director of the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Junior Achievement and Leadership Charlotte. He is a graduate of Leadership Charlotte Class IX and recipient of its 2001 Circle of Excellence award. He is a fellow in the Institute of Political Leadership.
He is present and CEO of Carolina Legal Staffing. he and his wife, Beverly, have two sons.
