Restructuring Government Committee:Agendas 2007
The City Council Restructuring Government Committee meets throughout the year to discuss issues that will be brought to the full Council. The Committee's recommendation, based on their research and discussion, is an important element in the City Council's final decisions.
 
During 2007 the Restructuring Government Committee meets at the following dates and times.

AGENDA FOR: meeting of the Restructuring Government Committee held Thursday, August 30th at 12 p.m. at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center.
   1.  Community Wi-Fi Proposal
        Staff: Susan Johnson, Business Support Services Director; 
        Bob Hagemann, Legal
        Action: Staff will provide an update on the status of the Wi-Fi proposals, as well as the regulatory environment surrounding such proposals.
   2.  Public Art
        Staff: Ruffin Hall, Budget & Evaluation
        Action: At the June 4th Workshop, Council referred a review of the following:
         - Circumstances under which public art funds can be pooled.
         - Definition of items that are eligible for public art funds.

   1.  Community Wi-Fi Proposal
        Staff: Susan Johnson, Business Support Services Director
        Bob Hagemann, Legal
        Action: Staff will provide an update on the status of the Wi-Fi proposals, as well as the regulatory environment surrounding such proposals.
   2.  Boards and Commissions Policies
        Staff: Brenda Freeze, City Clerk and Bob Hagemann, Legal
        Action: On January 2007, Council referred a review of the nomination to Boards and Commissions process to the Committee. The Committee is asked to discuss the turnover rate, and to recommend if any changes are necessary.

AGENDA for: meeting of the Restructuring Government Council Committee held Thursday, January 18 at 12:00 noon at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center.
   1.  2007 Committee Schedule
        Staff: Curt Walton and Keith Parker
        Action: The Committee is requested to review and approved the Committee schedule for 2007.
   2.  Budget Process
        Staff: Ruffin Hall, Budget & Evaluation
        Action: On June 12, 2006, Council referred a review of the Council's budget process and the role of the Budget Committee to Restructuring Government. At the October 19, 2006 meeting, the Committee requested additional information regarding enterprise fund reporting and financial partners. At the November 16, 2006 meeting the Committee requested staff develop a format for a monthly/ quarterly budget executive summary. As a part of the Council package, we have placed a modified budget calendar for the Committee's consideration, a draft list of budget retreat topics, the approved Council agenda item regarding enterprise fund reporting and a sample budget executive summary format. In addition, the charge to the Budget Committee with modification for the Committee's consideration is included.
   3.  Format for the new Government Channel Program
        Staff: Keith Richardson and Wendy Bing, Corporate Communications
        Action: At the November 16, 2006 meeting, the Committee reviewed a revised format for the new program and requested staff to come back with a proposed schedule of topics and participants during the six-month trial period. The proposed format and schedule is part of the communication package.
   4.  Community Wi-Fi Proposal
        Staff: Susan Johnson and Bob Hagemann
        Action: At the November 6, 2006 workshop, Council referred the issue of proposals for a community Wi-Fi network to Restructuring Government. Staff will provide an update on the status of these proposals, as well as the regulatory environment surrounding such proposals.
