The proposed Southeast Corridor Rapid Transit Project is one of Charlotte's five rapid transit corridors. The Southeast Corridor extends approximately 13.5 miles from Charlotte's Center City to the border of Mecklenburg and Union Counties, terminating at Central Piedmont Community College’s Levine Campus.
The 13.5-mile Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) alternative would operate from the Charlotte Gateway Station to the CPCC Levine Campus. Sixteen stations have been identified, including eight with park-and-ride facilities, with a total of 3,350 spaces. The BRT would operate at 3-minute headways in the peak period, and 10-minute headways in the off-peak times and weekends in order to provide the capacity required to meet projected demand. Thirty-three BRT vehicles would be required to operate this service.
