Countywide, emergency first aid services are provided by first responders from the Charlotte Fire Department and the Emergency Medical Services agency (EMS Agency or MEDIC), volunteer fire and rescue agencies, and volunteer emergency medical technicians. The Charlotte Fire department responds to fires and calls for emergency medical assistance from 38 fire stations located throughout the city.
