VCAT Deployment

The members of VCAT are sworn by the U.S. Marshal's Service to conduct federally adopted apprehension efforts anywhere in the country.  In coordination with the U.S. Marshal's Service, VCAT has consistently facilitated the apprehension of individuals throughout North Carolina and across the nation.

VCAT averages more than 20 violent criminal apprehensions per month.  Since March 2005, VCAT has been responsible for more than 800 apprehensions of violent offenders.


VCAT is available around the clock to facilitate the capture of individuals charged with crimes including:

  • Murder
  • Rape
  • Kidnapping
  • Armed Robbery
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Federal Firearms Violations
