VCAT Deployment

Designated members of VCAT are sworn by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshal's Service to coordinate federally adopted apprehension efforts anywhere in the world. In coordination with both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshal's Service, VCAT has consistently facilitated the apprehension of individuals throughout North Carolina and across the nation. VCAT participates in the F.B.I.'s Safe Streets Task Force and the U.S. Marshal's Hornets Nest Task Force.

VCAT averages more than 20 violent criminal apprehensions per month. Since March 2005, VCAT has been responsible for thousands of high risk fugitive operations yielding nearly 1200 violent fugitive apprehensions to date.


VCAT is available around the clock to facilitate the capture of individuals charged with crimes including:

  • Murder
  • Rape
  • Kidnapping
  • Armed Robbery
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Federal Firearms Violations
