The CMPD established guidelines for the redistricting plan.

• Create a smaller Central Division.
• Consider the anticipated growth in the outer "ring" divisions by allocating them a lower workload relative to those divisions in the interior of the city.
• Maintain patrol division offices at their existing locations due to the current long term leases in effect and the City's ownership of the West Service Center.
• Consider neighborhood linkages and boundaries as well as natural boundaries such as major roadways, creeks, etc.
• Bring the workload/total service time into balance.

How were the 13 Divisions Decided?
Based on the parameters established, the plan with 13 divisions offered the most equitable arrangement for the delivery of police services. This plan simply "slices the pie" differently while using existing personnel resources (including additional officers approved as part of the FY2007 budget) handling the same total workload.
