Each patrol division is divided into three geographic areas of response. The concept was designed to reduce the area over which any given officer is responsible. By reducing the geographic size, officers will be able to become more familiar with people in their area, patterns of crime and suspect behaviors, and community resources that may be leveraged to reduce crime and quality of life problems. A team of officers is assigned to each response area on different shifts throughout the day and a sergeant supervises the problem solving activities of the team officers.
